Loss and damage are increasingly mentioned in NAPs and NDCs, but these documents say little about options to address loss and damage and largely miss non-economic loss and damage. How to avert, minimize and address loss and damage is still in question. This side event will facilitate an insightful discussion about the current science and policy gaps for effective measures to avert, minimize and address loss and damage. The policy brief on the same topic paves the foundation for an honest exchange among UN agencies and lead scientists on multiple dimensions of the loss and damage, which is induced by inadequate action on climate change. This event will contribute to pavilion discussion on ambition. Through the side event, we aim to engage participants, share perspectives, and encourage more prompt and sufficient action on climate change.
